Munich, November 1, 2024 – Dr. Sebastian Binder (39) is joining Walberg Law Tax Strategy GmbH & Cie. KG (“Walberg & Cie.”) as an associate partner effective November 1, 2024. He will provide advice on corporate tax law, M&A tax, and real estate tax law at Walberg & Cie.’s Munich office and will continue to expand the tax practice together with Managing Partner Manuel Brühl.

Binder began his career in 2014 at the international business law firm Linklaters in the corporate tax practice. He then worked at Flick Gocke Schaumburg in the corporate and group tax practice, most recently as an associate partner.

Binder advises investors, entrepreneurs, small and medium-sized businesses, and corporations on M&A transactions, restructurings, and ongoing corporate tax matters. He also has particular expertise in the areas of real estate taxation and real estate transfer tax. Throughout his career, he has been involved in numerous significant domestic and international transactions and has earned an excellent reputation in this area in particular. For example, he advised the Webasto Group on the sale of its charging business to the U.S. private equity firm Transom Capital Group. He was also part of the team that advised the U.S. company Baxter International on the sale of its Biopharma Solutions division to the U.S. private equity firms Advent International and Warburg Pincus. Binder regularly works on cross-border transactions, particularly between the U.S. and Germany.

“We are very pleased to welcome Sebastian Binder, an extremely experienced and highly skilled colleague, to our firm,” said Manuel Brühl, who already knows Binder from his own time at Flick Gocke Schaumburg. “With his outstanding expertise in corporate tax law, the structuring of M&A transactions, and real estate tax law, Sebastian is the perfect addition to our interdisciplinary team and a great asset to our growing tax practice.”

Binder himself says: “I am extremely pleased to be able to contribute my experience to the development of a very dynamic law firm at Walberg & Cie. Here, I am joining an outstanding team of experienced tax advisors and attorneys. For me, Walberg & Cie. stands not only for high professional standards but also for intelligent solutions for our clients and an entrepreneurial approach. Thanks to our interdisciplinary approach, we can advise our clients not only on complex tax law issues but also provide comprehensive, one-stop advice on M&A transactions and restructurings.”

At Walberg & Cie., Binder will be working closely with Dr. Simon Sabel, Managing Partner in the Corporate Law and M&A practice group, particularly on transaction structuring and contract drafting. “Sebastian Binder has extensive experience in the tax structuring of cross-border transactions, as well as in traditional private equity situations. This will allow us to further expand our services for investors and provide even more effective advice on complex transactions. We are very pleased about this,” said Sabel.
